Cold Heading Fasteners

Cold-headed fasteners include bolts, screws, and nuts made by cold forming. The metal flows to follow the thread shape rather than being cut off, making the fasteners stronger and less likely to break. They are commonly used in car suspensions, engine mounts, gearboxes, and frame cross beams.

One truck chassis customer previously experienced broken bolts while using hot-forged bolts, which often failed at the thread root. We supplied him with grade 10.9 cold heading fasteners. After six months of driving on rough mine roads, none of the fasteners broke. Today, he exclusively purchases cold heading fasteners from us. Our factory is equipped with multi-station formers, thread rollers, and automatic heat treatment lines.

We use optical sorters, hardness testers, and tensile testing machines. The entire process is automatic and intelligent. Materials are automotive-grade alloy steels such as ML40Cr or ML35CrMo. Key assembly sizes achieve IT8 precision. Mechanical properties are stable from grade 8.8 to 10.9. For grade 10.9 and above, we pass the GB/T 3098.17 pre-load test for hydrogen embrittlement. The defect rate for cold-heading cracks and folds is below 1 ppm.
