What They Do for Body Panels

 

Our rivets on car are made for joining metal sheets on the car body. They connect two or more layers without welding, drilling, or tapping. The surface stays flat. And the paint is not damaged. You can find our product on side frames, roof panels, trunk lids, and door inner panels. One of our customers does body welding. He had two different metals to join. One was zinc-coated steel. The other was aluminum. Welding those two causes electro-chemical corrosion. We gave him our rivets on car. He pressed the two sheets together with rivets. No heat, no damage to the zinc or aluminum oxide layer. Now 30% of his joints use rivets instead of welding.

Our cold heading process is stable. The rivet shank diameter tolerance is plus/minus 0.04mm. The head shape is full and has zero cracks. Our rivets on car meet GB/T 12618-2014 and GB/T 3098.19-2010. For steel rivets, shear strength is at least 450MPa. For aluminum rivets, it is at least 200MPa. The expanded head stays strong and crack-free. For corrosion, aluminum rivets get a passivation treatment. Steel rivets get zinc plating for at least 72 hours of salt spray. We run expansion tests on 10 random samples per batch. We also check the mandrel retention force. Hardness for steel rivets is HV220-280.
