Thin Wide Head for Soft Materials
Our flat rivet has a very thin head. The head thickness is about half of a normal rivet. But the head diameter is larger. This larger area spreads out the force. The pressure per square mm drops a lot. You see our product in car interior soft trim, leather seats, dashboard covers, trunk liners, shoes, bags, and luggage. An RV sofa maker came to us. His sofa cover was real leather. A normal small rivet head would press a dent into the leather. We suggested our product. The wide thin head spread the pressure evenly. The leather surface stayed smooth and nice. His RV interior rating went up. Our product is made by multi-station cold heading in one step. The head grain flow is complete. No folds or cracks. Key Head Dimensions and Corrosion Resistance
Head thickness of our product is 0.8mm to 2.0mm. The ratio of head diameter to shaft diameter can reach 3 to 1 or higher. Head thickness tolerance is ±0.06mm. Concentricity between head and shaft is within 0.05mm. We use an optical sorter to check head sizes automatically. Bad parts are rejected. Surface roughness is below Ra3.2μm. The feel is smooth and does not scratch. Hardness for carbon steel flat rivets is HV220-280. Stainless steel products are HV260-320. Salt spray test is strict. Dacromet (zinc-aluminum coating) lasts over 120 hours. Outdoor use is no problem.
