Properties And Applications Of Cylindrical Pins

Cylindrical pins are a type of locating pin used to fix the relative positions of components. They serve as essential auxiliary parts during combined machining and assembly operations. Varieties include standard cylindrical pins, internally threaded cylindrical pins, externally threaded cylindrical pins, pins with holes, and elastic cylindrical pins.

Cylindrical pins feature a simple structure, excellent centering capabilities, high load-bearing capacity, and superior performance under variable loads and impact conditions; however, they require high machining precision for the mating surfaces. Due to the significant force required for installation and removal-which can potentially mar the mating surfaces-they are generally classified as non-separable connections. Nevertheless, when the interference fit is minimal or when hydraulic methods are employed for assembly and disassembly, the connection can be considered separable. They are widely utilized across various applications.
