Application Fields Of Self-Tapping Screws

Self-tapping screws were developed to reduce fastening time and are widely utilized across various mechanical sectors, including the automotive and motorcycle industries.

The cross-section of their threaded portion features a trilobular profile; this design allows them to extrude internal threads directly into pre-drilled plain holes within workpieces capable of plastic deformation, thereby establishing an interference fit. These screws not only offer excellent anti-loosening properties but also eliminate the need for the preliminary tapping of screw holes in the workpiece, representing a new type of fastener that excels in both technical performance and economic efficiency.

In the automotive industry, self-tapping locking screws are widely employed in connections subject to vibration due to their superior locking capabilities. Common types utilized in the automotive sector include various configurations, such as Phillips pan heads and hexagonal heads.

With the introduction of advanced technology, self-tapping locking screws are now also being mass-produced within China's domestic automotive and motorcycle industries.
