Introduction to Shafts

A rotating shaft-as the name implies-is a shaft essential for connecting the main components and parts of a product; during rotational operation, it is designed to withstand both bending moments and torsional moments.

 

A shaft that is indispensable for linking a product's main components and parts-and which is engineered to endure both bending moments and torsional moments during rotation-is referred to as a rotating shaft. Common examples of rotating shafts include: mobile phone hinges (for flip phones or phones with rotating screens); laptop hinges; portable DVD player hinges; LED desk lamp hinges; LCD display hinges; and hinges for in-vehicle mounts such as GPS holders, among others.

 

Based on their application, rotating shafts can be categorized into the following nine types: 1. LCD hinges; 2. TV hinges; 3. Video phone hinges; 4. Portable DVD hinges; 5. Digital video camera (DV) hinges; 6. Digital camera hinges; 7. Laptop hinges; 8. Mobile phone hinges; 9. LED desk lamp hinges.

 

Based on their structural design, rotating shafts can be categorized into the following five types: 1. Traditional washer-type hinges; 2. Linear (I-shaped) hinges; 3. Die-cast hinges; 4. Wrapped-sleeve hinges; 5. Torsion spring hinges.

 

Based on their functional characteristics, rotating shafts can be categorized into the following eight types: 1. Unlimited-angle hinges; 2. Angle-limited hinges; 3. Multi-stage torque hinges; 4. Fixed-point hinges; 5. Friction/resistance hinges; 6. Composite hinges; 7. Wall-mount hinges; 8. Switching/latching hinges.
