Types of Automotive Fasteners

In the field of automotive manufacturing, various components are joined together in specific ways to form a cohesive whole. Among these, the core elements that facilitate this connection are automotive fasteners. Although these parts are small in size, they play a critical role within the overall structure of the vehicle.

 

From a functional perspective, automotive fasteners are primarily categorized into threaded, snap-fit, and welded types. Threaded fasteners-including bolts, nuts, and screws-achieve connection by generating a preload force via the helical incline of their threads; snap-fit ​​fasteners rely on elastic deformation to secure components; and welded fasteners form specialized joints through the fusion of metals. Each type possesses its own specific characteristics and is suited to particular applications.

 

Compared to fasteners used in other sectors, automotive fasteners exhibit distinct characteristics. Fasteners utilized in ordinary household appliances or architectural structures typically need only to fulfill basic connection functions and meet operational requirements under standard environmental conditions. Automotive fasteners, however, must withstand far more complex and rigorous operating environments.
